I am always amazed at the number of fellow anglers I speak with that say they lost fish and complain about it. We all lose fish but how many times is it avoidable by doing some regular maintenance to your tackle. Regardless if you are using fly fishing gear and casting a #22 dry fly or if you are using spinning gear and pounding out a 1/4oz spinnerbait with a trailer hook, you need to take 20 seconds and run either a honing stone or a file over your hooks. 2 or 3 passes with either of these objects will ensure that your hook is not the reason you lost that fish of a lifetime.
